I have a solution for you, but the Pop&Lock Custom Tailgate Lock # PAL1700 is not designed to fit on your 1996 Chevy C/K pickup and will only fit on 2004-2020 GMC/Chevy small trucks. In order to add a lock to your truck's, you would only have the option of adding an electric lock with the Pop & Lock Custom Tailgate Lock # PAL8100. This is does not come with a new handle, but simply adds in an electric locking mechanism that is compatible with existing power locks on your truck. If you don't already have power locks on your truck you would need to att the Switch Kit for Pop & Lock Power Tailgate Locks # PAL9520 in order to operate the electric lock.

This kit is compatible with the 1996 C/K Series trucks excluding the Crew Cab with 8 Foot Bed models. If you have the Crew Cab with the 8 ft truck bed I recommend instead using the Pace Edwards PowerGate Electric Tailgate Lock # 311-LK250.
