I have a solution for you, but the Pop&Lock Custom Tailgate Lock # PAL1700 is not designed to fit on your 1996 Chevy C/K pickup and will only fit on 2004-2020 GMC/Chevy small trucks. You would only have the option of adding an electric lock with the Pop & Lock Custom Tailgate Lock # PAL8100. This is does not come with a new handle, but simply adds in an electric locking mechanism that is compatible with the existing power locks on your truck. If you don't already have power locks on your truck, you would need to add the Switch Kit for Pop & Lock Power Tailgate Locks # PAL9520 in order to operate the electric lock.
