Trailer brake controller,,is the orange wire, which is not used, is it for the trailer battery charging system?

No. According to the GM tech bulletin the orange wire you're seeing is for the Center High Mount Stop Lamp (CHMSL) on the rear cab of your truck. This wire is not used when installing a trailer brake controller like the Tekonsha Voyager Trailer Brake Controller # 39510.
