Do the short posts on the rail closer to the cab or the tailgate

The short legs of the Andersen Ultimate Connection 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch # AM3200 are located closer to the tailgate per the included diagram from their installation instructions. This design helps to aid in providing the additional turning clearance.

@Denny Denny, that is a great question. The model number will be on a sticker that is located on the base tubing on the unit, It would have a sku number listed with the model number. In the event that the sticker is not there you can measure the height of the unit from the base rail to where the ball sits [ do not include the ball ]. If it measures 13 inches then it is model number 3200. If it is 15 inches and is all aluminum then it will be 15 inches. The newest Gen 3 models which have been released this year [ 2024] will measure 14 inches for both models. The 3200 will be the black power coated model and the 3217 will be the silver aluminum model. We currently only carry the 3200 model on the site.

Hey Gary! The Andersen Ultimate like #AM3200 and #3220 are rated for 4,500 lbs of tongue weight. Since yours is 2,880 lbs you aren't overloading the hitch.
