Maximum Voltage Reading with Manual Lever Applied on a Prodigy P2 Brake Controller
Published 04/17/2012 >
Question:
The instructions say the maximum voltage reading should vary from 0-13 when the manual lever is moved to the right. In one instance, the readout only went to 7 and now it only shows 12. Is this normal? Is the maximum readout using the manual lever supposed to vary based on settings, vehicle movement, etc.? My vehicle was not moving when I observed these readings.

When using the manual lever on the Prodigy P2 brake controller, you should see the max voltage output that the controller power wheel is set to. So, if you are seeing a reading of 7 that means that you have the power wheel set just above the middle of the range at about 7 volts.
When the power wheel is set to full power and you apply the manual lever fully, you will get a full power reading based on the power coming into the brake controller from the vehicle battery. If the vehicle battery is in good shape and fully charged you will get a reading of up to 13 volts with the vehicle engine running. When the engine is not running you should see a reading slightly lower, like 12.4 volts.
