Can the 2019 VW Jetta Be Flat Towed?

Question:

So FWD cars can be flat towed without harming any drive train components ? I have a class A motorcoach with airbrakes. So I can Just hook up my new Jetta with auto trans and just go ? Which model Nighthawk would suit my need ?

Unfortunately, it's not quite that simple because not all FWD vehicles have transmissions that can be disengaged that will allow for flat towing. You'll want to consult your owner's manual for confirmation but from what I've found it looks like the 2019 VW Jetta, which is FWD, can only be towed on a tow dolly like the Demco Kar Kaddy # DM9713045 .

For vehicles that are able to be flat towed, you need a number of components in order to flat tow including base plates, a compatible tow bar, safety cables, lights, a rise/drop adapter and a supplemental braking system (which needs to be compatible with your RV's braking system).

As I mentioned, you'll want to check your owner's manual for confirmation on whether or not there is a procedure for disengaging the transfer case on your VW Jetta to allow for flat towing, but it doesn't appear that is the case. For this reason, you'll want to tow it behind your motor home on a dolly like the Kar Kaddy.
