etrailer Trailer Hitch vs. Curt Trailer Hitch. 2020 Ford Ranger. Comparing these hitches I can see a bunch of things that are similar. Am I missing any differences? Is there some surprise in the install I'll get or something if I order one over the other?

There isn't much difference at all between the etrailer Trailer Hitch # e63ZR to the Curt Trailer Hitch # C13417 for your 2020 Ford Ranger, so you aren't missing anything though it's smart to ask. The differences are just in the respective finishes, with the etrailer hitch having a modern black matte finish compared to the Curt's traditional glossy black finish.

Aside from that, the two hitches actually install exactly the same on your Ranger so there aren't going to be any surprises; you just use your Ranger's existing factory bolts to attach either hitch to your frame rails. It is one of the most straightforward installs you'll find and both hitches require the same tools: a ratchet, torque wrench, 21mm socket, 6" socket extension, and two C-clamps. I have added links to the written instructions of both hitches for you to take a look at. They also have identical weight capacities.
