Question:
can a hitch that will be used to carry a 40 lb wheelchair be installed on my 2003 Taurus? and where can I get one installed

Expert Reply:
Since your wheelchair only weighs in at 40 lbs you can actually use any of the trailer hitch options that we have for your 2003 Ford Taurus. I recommend the Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver # C12232 because it is a Class II option which means that it is a little stronger than the Class I Curt option.
You can then use a lightweight cargo carrier like the Curt # C18145 which only weighs 29 lbs. I have linked our selection of cargo carriers that fit a 1-1/4" receiver if you'd like to look at other options as well as a review video of the Curt cargo carrier on a 2014 Taurus that you can check out.
