can it hurt my cars wiring? did a vw with your wiring was ok with the same trailer

The Tow Ready wiring harness, # 118640, plugs in line with the tail light wiring on your 2012 Chevy Sonic, but it receives the power for the trailer lights from the vehicle battery. There will only be a very minimal draw on the vehicle wiring because the harness only uses the connection to the tail lights to receive the signals to send to the trailer lights.
