is this unit too heavy for a Toyota Highlander?v6l engine and will the hatch door at the back clear the unit? hitcj e98844

Helpful Expert Reply:
With the proper hitch installed on your 2017 Toyota Highlander like the Draw Tite part # DT84MR the GearSpace 34 Enclosed Cargo Carrier # HGK826 that you referenced would easily not be too heavy for the vehicle. The carrier weighs 189 lbs unloaded and the etrailer hitch # e98844 referenced has a 500 lb tongue weight capacity which means it would easily be strong enough. Also, we've installed this on lighter duty vehicles like mini vans (see picture) and the carrier and vehicle were just fine.
Also since we were able to open the rear door of the mini van (see second picture), which has a taller rear door than the Highlander, it would also have the clearance to open the Highlander rear hatch.
