We've seen a few people with this error try blowing compressed air in the disc slot of the Jensen Stereo part # JWM60A and the DVDs started working after that. I'd try picking up one of those cans of air usually used for dusting and direct the nozzle into the opening and see if that fixes it. Since you are seeing "disc error" the problem would not be related to the connections from the stereo to the TV. Using the HDMI from the stereo to the HDMI input of the TV is the correct way to connect.
