No Trailer Running Light On a 2019 Chevrolet Tahoe or Trailer
Updated 09/16/2019 | Published 09/14/2019 >
Question:
I have a 2019 Tahoe LT about 5 months old, with the towing package. When I hookup a 4 plug light kit I get all the trailer lights except the running lights. When I test it everything is good on the tester but the running lights, which will not light. Tried hooking the trailer to a friends truck and got the same results. I do not understand two issues: 1. Why I can get all lights on the trailer but running lights on either vehicle. 2. Why the lights are not activating the tester, when connected directly to the vehicle. P.S. Over the years I learned that trailer lighting and wiring will cause one to start drinking :.

It sounds like you could have an issue on the vehicle and trailer. If you are not getting any power to the running light pin on the vehicle side trailer connector this is usually caused by a blown fuse. I checked in the owner's manual for a 2019 Chevrolet Tahoe and it look's like the trailer running light fuse is located in the engine bay fuse box, slot #41.
In order to troubleshoot the trailer I recommend you first reground the trailer connector and then apply 12 volt power to the trailer running light pin. Once this is done, start tracing the wire back and probing this with a circuit tester to see where the power stops.
