Question:
Are these noisey like other winches?

Expert Reply:
Bulldog didn't have any specific dB (decibel) figures available for their # BDW15018 3400 lb capacity trailer winch, but they stated that this particular winch is no more or less noisy than any other winch of this particular size and 3400 lb weight rating. What WILL make this winch a bit quieter than is the fact that this winch uses synthetic rope and a hawse fairlead, as opposed to a roller fairlead like a cable equipped winch would use. You won't hear the squeaky rollers turning or the metal on metal friction of the cable against the rollers using this particular winch. I'm sorry I wasn't able to quantify things a little better for you, but hope that this information has helped.
I've linked to a couple of articles about powered winches that you might find helpful.
