Troubleshooting Axle Coming Out of Alignment on Tandem Axle Trailer

Question:
a friend has a tandem axle setup with slipper in the center . Last week we looked at it and the front axle was cockeyed to the rear axle. After using it this week on the farm we looked at it again and the tires were in almost perfect alignment with each other is this normal with the slipper style of spring ?

The front (or rear) axle definitely shouldn't be wandering around like what you described on your friend's tandem axle trailer. I recommend making sure that the slipper springs are securely attached to the center and front/rear hangers and the equalizer is in good condition.
Also make sure that your hangers are appropriate for the width of your slipper springs. It's possible that you are using hangers for wider springs and it's allowing the rear portion of the spring to angle a bit during travel.
It might be worth it just to bring the trailer up to a local trailer shop so they can give the suspension setup a thorough inspection. It's possible that axle itself is bent or that another component is in need of replacement. I have attached an article on slipper spring suspension that you might also find helpful.
