Question:
I have a 2005 Tahoe and pull a custom off-road/expedition trailer that has a 12v 100a/h battery. I’ve been charging via that 7pin but it’s slow and terrible. This unit is on my list to fix this. But... how do I get power to the charger from my trucks alternator??? Do I have to run wires all the way back or is there an easy tap in point? Thanks.

Yes, you will have to run a power wire from the alternator to the Redarc In-Vehicle BCDC Battery Charger part # 331-BCDC1225D which gets installed on the trailer, there is no way around this nor would there be for any other battery charger of its kind. The correct size of wire to use will have much to do with the length between the alternator and trailer battery. Most likely you will need a 6-8 AWG wire. If you have any local car audio stores nearby they will most likely be able to sell you this wire by the foot but we do not carry this unfortunately. We do however have the Quick Connectors part # DL24085 to bridge the connection between the vehicle and trailer.
