HOW CAN THE VALVE HAVE A DIFFERENT DIMENSION WHEN OPEN AS OPPOSED TO CLOSED? Thanks in advancxe.

The end of the Valterra Waste Valve for RV Black Water Tank # T50B that has the lugs has a 3" diameter but the other side with the threads is actually designed to fit over a 3" diameter threaded sewage pipe which is why it measures 3-1/4". As long as you have standard pipe sizes on your RV and the outlet as a threaded end this waste valve will work for you!
