How To Operate the Bulldog CCP Trigger-Style Coupler Lock
Updated 07/08/2019 | Published 07/07/2019 >
Question:
I have a CP Hitchlock that has been on the vehicle for about 6 years. I have the key LB010 and can the key and disengage the center portion. Sounds silly but after 6 years I do not remember the exact steps required to disengage the lock after the center pin pops out. I have tried every thing I know turning, rotating pin, pulling etc. sprayed it with penetrating oil. In short, what are the steps required to open it after the center piece is disengaged? Thanks, and best regards

It sounds like you might have the Bulldog Lifelong Trigger-Style Coupler Lock part # BD580404 and if that is the case then I have attached for a you a review video on how to operate the lock. That said, if the lock has been on for six years without being removed then odds are it is stuck and will be very hard to remove as rust can form and dirt can get inside over time which can then make for them to be very difficult to operate. If that is the case then you will need to either cut the shackle or drill the lock core out so it can be removed. Once this is done I then recommend replacing with the Reese Tow and Store Lock Kit part # RP7014700.
