Question:

So, I have a Sears cartopper Sport 20-SV in my garage - I can’t find the key and it’s currently closed and locked, so I can’t see the lockbox. Is there any way to figure out the right key? I need it for a trip in a couple of weeks. TIA!

On a rooftop cargo box like your Sears Sport 20-SV the lock core number can usually be seen on the face of the lock cylinder, as shown in the example photo. The codes are lightly stamped or etched into the face of the lock cylinder and this code should be visible from the exterior whether the lock is in a locked or unlocked state.

Once you find that code you can select the proper replacement key by adding that code to prefix THKEYN _ _ _ _ . In the example in the photo the key to order is then part # THKEYN030. Keys are sold singly so you may want to order a couple just in case.

If you happen to have a tall vehicle you might consider using a simple folding step # TE97FR to make using the cargo box easier. This lightweight step is inexpensive and comes fully assembled. It pops open instantly to give you almost a foot of extra reach for loading and unloading.
