Question:
On our older trailer we had a Reese weight distribution but we are looking at a Blue Ox system. In your opinion Is Blue Ox as equality as good a product as Reese?

Expert Reply:
Yes, the Reese and Blue Ox weight distribution systems are equal in quality and performance, if you are comparing systems that have similar features, but in my opinion the Reese system is easier to use because of the way the spring bars attach to the trailer frame brackets.
I would compare the Blue Ox Weight Distribution System, # BXW0550, to the Reese Strait-Line Weight Distribution System, # RP66082. These systems both offer weight distribution and sway control.
Between these two systems, the Reese system will handle tongue weights up to 600 lbs, where the Blue Ox system you selected is rated for up to 550 lbs tongue weight.
For either system you will need to add a properly sized ball, # A-90 for a 2 inch or # 19286 for a 2-5/16 inch.
