Metal Side Vent for Enclosed Trailer

Updated 06/12/2019 | Published 06/11/2019

Question:

I had a 18 ft X 8 ft box trailer that I use for storage. I need vents for the sides to let air flow in and out to let out moisture and heat. I can’t use a top vent because the top is an opaque fiberglass that lets in light. It’s heavy duty for the road and I don’t want to cut into it. I want side vents that will stay open, shed rain and I can put a screen behind to keep out bugs. Prefer metal. Suggestions please.. It has a temp tarp til repaired, because a limb punctured the top

Helpful Expert Reply:

The best option for a metal side vent for your enclosed trailer is the 2-Piece Side for Enclosed Trailers - Metal - 10" x 12" # 9139 because its exterior will shed rain like you wanted, has a butterfly vent which you can turn if you wanted to adjust the amount of air flow. Though it does not have a screen you can easily add one as part of the vent to keep the bugs out of your trailer.

This vent will simply require a 6" diameter hole and you will need four 10/32 machine screws to install it or if your walls are up to 1/2" thick you can use Steel Machine Screw - # 10/32 x 1" Countersunk Oval Head # 29515. You will also need Sealant # 0160297 for the install. For optimal air flow you can install more than one of these vents as well.
