The Custom Installation Kit for Westin Diamondstep and Surestep Bumpers # 92240 is required for your 1998 Dodge Ram 1500 and is a fit for black # 20009 or silver # 20008. The chrome # 71000 is not a fit according to Westin and only fits up to 1996 models.
If you prefer a chrome bumper the Westin Perfect Match Series Rear Step Bumper - Chrome Plated Steel # 31005 is compatible with your truck using that same installation kit # 92240.
