If you were installing the Tow Ready connector you referenced on a 2010 Dodge Nitro, you would not need to cut or splice any wires, as the T-Connector plugs inline with the existing wiring, making for a plug-and-play installation.

You would access the rear of the tail light assemblies as if you were replacing a burned out taillight bulb. The factory wiring harness is unplugged from the tail light assembly, and the T-Connector would plug inline between the factory harness and the tail light assembly. The connector with the yellow wire plugs in on the drivers side, and the connector with the green wire would connect on the passenger side. If you were needing to know the wire colors and functions for a different reason, I do not have that information. I would recommend using a circuit tester like part # PTW2993 to test the individual wires to determine function.
