The 3" width of the CargoSmart 1" Forged D-Ring Tie-Down Anchor # 348865 is the inside width of the D-Ring. You can see this referenced in the attached review video. Please note that the weld on piece is 3/8" so you will lose that much clearance in regards to the inner height.
