Where to Kick to Activate Hands Free Liftgate Function on a 2019 Toyota RAV4 Hybrid Limited

Question:

There was another question you answered about whether the Curt hitch interferes with the handsfree tailgate function on the 2019 RAV4 hybrid limited. Your answer said you need to kick beside the hitch rather than at the center. How far away from the hitch should I be kicking and does it only work on one side of the hitch? Where is the sensor located exactly? I got the Curt hitch installed and Im finding I have to repeatedly kick to activate the feature. Im wondering where the sweet spot is relative to the hitch.

With the Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver # C13416 installed on your 2019 Toyota RAV4 Hybrid Limited you should be able to activate the hands free liftgate function by kicking to either side of the receiver. I am attaching a photo that shows some locations that other customers have had success in getting the hands free liftgate function to operate but we have found that there isn't really a universal sweet spot. There should be a few different sensors on your bumper and since the steel hitch can sit in the way you'll just need to find what spot works best for your particular vehicle/trailer hitch combination.
