I am looking for a 12 inch long hitch extension that fits a 2 1/2 shaft with a step on top

The closest option we have available to what you're needing is the Buyers Products 12" Hitch Receiver Extension # 3371804015. This 12 inch long hitch extender features a weld-on step but is designed to be used with a 2 inch receiver opening. Because of this you will just need to add a reducer sleeve like the Curt # C45405 to your truck's hitch.
We do not have a similar hitch extender/step available that is directly compatible with a 2-1/2 inch hitch receiver. I have attached a few video demonstrations on these products that you can check out as well.
