The Global Link RV Entry Door Locking Latch Kit # 295-000002 that you referenced will likely work great as a replacement on your 1996 Travel Supreme 5th Wheel but you will want to take a few measurements first to make sure. Unfortunately trailer manufacturer's don't typically keep records of smaller parts like these that are installed at the factory so I'm unable to verify if this will be a perfect fit.

This entry door lock will install in latch cutouts that are 2-1/2 inches wide and 3-1/2 inches tall to as large as 3 inches wide and 4 inches tall. As long as your cutout falls within this range and the door itself is 1-1/4 inch to 1-1/2 inches thick then this will work great.
