How To Carry a Kayak on a 2017 Hyundai Elantra with Bare Roof

Hi. I have a Hyundai Elantra with a completely bare roof. I have attached a photo. 2017 base model. Is it possible to get a roof rack installed on this car so that I can carry a kayak? Thanks

Yes, I have everything that you need to carry a kayak on your 2017 Hyundai Elantra with a bare roof. For starters, you will need a roof rack for which I recommend using the Rhino-Rack Vortex Aero Crossbars part # RRVA118B-2, part # RRRLKVA, and part # DK461. This system is one of the more affordable options out there and it still has the same quality of the higher end systems, Thule, Yakima etc. It comes with aero crossbars for reduced wind noise/drag and it even has locks for security.

Then in order to secure your kayak to this roof rack, I recommend the Rhino-Rack J-Style Kayak Carrier part # S510 for fixed or part # S512 for folding. These carrier are both easy to install/use, come with the additional tie-downs you need, and are cost effective. The folding carrier will be best if you have a garage with limited clearance.
