Recommendation For Straight Tongue Coupler on a Trailer Channel That Measures 3-1/4 Inches Wide

Question:

I measured my tongue width for a new coupler for my boat trailer mine is 3 1/4inch wide with the old coupler on would this mean i need a 3inch ?

The straight tongue couplers like the Dutton-Lainson 3-Inch Trailer Coupler, part # DL13897 are available for trailer tongues with either a 2-inch, 2-1/2-inch, or 3-inch channel. I would recommend for you to measure the trailer channel at a point where you are not measuring the coupler and see if it measures 3 inches wide. If you are measuring the width of the trailer channel including the coupler it will normally measure larger than 3 inches.

If the measurement of the trailer tongue, not including the coupler, measures no more than 3 inches wide the part # DL13897 will fit your trailer.
