Availability of Load Assist Kayak Carrier Compatible with Rhino Rack RVP Flush Mount Roof Rack

Question:

I recently purchased the RRRVP27 roof rack system for my Jeep Grand Cherokee. I assume that the side loader will work with that since they are both rhino rack but I wanted to be sure

I reached out to my contact at Rhino-Rack regarding the use of the Load Assist # RR-RUSL on the RVP Roof Rack # RRRVP27 for your 2016 Jeep Grand Cherokee and unfortunately it won't be a good option.

The potential issue is that the Load Assist relies on an attachment to the crossbar both inside the mounting feet/side rails and on the outside of them. I have attached an image to clarify this. My contact says that because the Load Assist would only be able to grab onto the crossbar inside of the rails (because the RVP features a flush design where the bars don't actually extend past them) it will lead to more instability and movement when trying load or remove the kayaks. Because of this he does not recommend using this particular system.

The only similar load assist system we have available that doesn't have this same requirement is with the Malone DownLoader # MPG114MD-351XL. This system includes the J-style carrier itself to which the lift assist bars actually attach, eliminating the need for any crossbar extension past the side rails.

I have attached the installation instructions that you can check out as well to get a better picture of how everything works.
