Does Fuel Pump on a 1999 Dodge Ram 3500 with 5.9L Cummins Need to be Replaced to Use a Programmer

Question:
Hello I purchased the above listed tuner yesterday. My truck is a daily driver and stock except for the exhaust and intake filter. Both fuel pumps were replaced two years ago with stock units. I just wanted a little more power, torque and increased mileage would be nice. I was concerned because I just read your response to another question from a 1999 model year Dodge truck same basic truck but a different Edge tuner about the fuel pump needing an upgrade / aftermarket unit? Am I going to have a problem? Thank you very much for your web site and your help

On the Edge EZ, # EP30200, it is designed to work with stock equipment on a 1999 Dodge Ram 3500 with the 5.9 Liter Cummins. It is not required to replace the fuel pump or any other component to use the programmer. However, when set to the higher power levels it can be beneficial to have an upgraded pump as long as the new pump has the same output parameters as the old pump.
I have included a link to the installation details for the EZ. You will see that it does not mention a need to replace the fuel pump.
