Luckily for you, your 2008 Ford F-150 already has most of the items you need for a 7-way (circuit breakers, etc). Therefore, the only thing you need to install a 7-way is the Adapter 4-Pole to 7-Pole and 4-Pole part # 37185. This adapters plugs into the 4-way you have now and comes with four blunt cut wires, two of which (brake output, 12 volt) will need to be connected the end of the driver's side frame rail (see photo).
If you also need a brake controller then I recommend using the Tekonsha Prodigy P2 Trailer Brake Controller part # 90885 with the Tekonsha Plug-In Wiring Adapter for Electric Brake Controllers part # 3035-P because it is the most popular and well reviewed option we have for you. It has great features such as integrated safeguards and troubleshooting advice. I have attached a review video of this brake controller for you as well.
