Will Suspension Kit With Wet Bolts Help Reduce Squeaking in Cargo Trailer

Updated 03/21/2019 | Published 03/20/2019

Question:

Morning Forest River E series cargo trailer. Original parts are make a very annoying squeaking when going slow. probably at high speed as well. Ive tried all different kinds of lube and nothing helps, but it is also impossible to say exactly were noise is from. Whats your best guess? Think K71-359-00 will help fix the noise? Thanks

There are many potential causes for squeaking, including worn suspension components but it could also be something like a door on the cargo trailer being a bit loose and rubbing.

However, if you believe you have at least narrowed it down to your suspension (for example, you may hear a much more noticeable squeak going over a large bump as opposed to regular driving) then using the Dexter Heavy-Duty Suspension Kit for Tandem-Axle Trailers # K71-359-00 may help prevent the squeaking.

The reason for this is that it uses bronze bushings to replace what are likely worn nylon bushings in your trailer and because it uses wet bolts that have a grease zerk to allow for much easier lubrication than standard dry bolts. The squeaking could be caused by dry bolts being difficult to properly and regularly lubricate, an issue that this kit would help remedy.

I have added a link to a video review of the Dexter Heavy-Duty Suspension Kit for Tandem-Axle Trailers # K71-359-00 for you to take a look at.
