Is it Possible to Lock Out the Demco Hydraulic Brake Actuator # DM8609502 For Use with Elec Brakes
Updated 03/19/2019 | Published 03/18/2019 >
Question:
Hi, We currently use this surge actuator DM8609502 on a customized trailer for our equipment and we have a customer that is interested in an electric brake setup versus the surge brake setup. Unfortunately time is of the essence and the customer cannot wait for a new electric trailer to come off assembly. I spoke to our axle/hub vendor and we can easily swap out the current axle/surge brakes for the electric brake hub setup, but what if any would be the best coarse of action for adapting this actuator and coupler we use the 2inch ball to work as a fixed mount as the A-frame mount has been welded to the frame. The customer does have a stock trailer electric brake setup on his truck. Thanks for any help possible!

Basically you need to lock the outer sleeve of the Demco Hydraulic Brake Actuator # DM8609502 to the inner sleeve to prevent the two from moving. You could run a large bolt through all of the pieces to allow this to happen or some will weld the pieces together.
