Hitch and Bike Rack Recommendation for 2019 Toyota Prius C

Question:

Just got a 2019 Prius C. I used to carry my bikes in the back of my truck but can't do that anymore. Waht can i do??? I've got my adult bike and my two kids bikes.

The best option to carry bike on your 2019 Toyota Prius C is a trailer hitch and hitch mounted bike rack. Both hitch options for your 2019 Prius C are Class I hitches. I recommend Draw-Tite Class I hitch part # 24971 because it does not require a stabilization strap when carrying bikes like the Curt hitch for your vehicle.

Since the only option for the Prius is a Class I hitch, you are only able to carry 2 bikes. More than 2 bikes on a Class I hitch can cause extra leverage on the hitch. The Class I hitch may not be able to handle the force leading to hitch failure or damage.

The bike rack I recommend is the Kuat Beta 2 bike rack part # B202-114. The Kuat bike rack will fit into the Draw-Tite Class I hitch on your Prius and carries 2 bikes. It weighs 12.6 lbs compared to other bike racks that can weigh up to 50 lbs. It will be easier to put into the hitch because of its light weight construction. The hitch on the Prius is recessed under the vehicle so the 7 1/2 inch shank on the Kuat helps with bumper clearance.

Most women's and children's bikes do not have a straight cross tube on the frame so you may need an adapter bar # UB01 to help the bikes hang level on the rack. I have attached a video of the bike rack and adapter bar.
