Troubleshooting RV Kwikee Steps that Stopped Working with Ignition Switch
Updated 02/28/2019 | Published 02/27/2019 >
Question:
Hi. I have the Kwikee brand of RV steps. They extend and retract just fine when the rear door is opened and closed. They will also do so when you flip the switch by the rear door. However, the steps used to retract automatically when you start the engine. Now the steps will not retract automatically when the engine is started. You have to remember to go to the back door and flip the switch to get them to retract. Any thoughts on what the problem could be? Also, I tried to contact Kwikee customer service but their phone numbers have been disconnected and their website is no longer their site. Im assuming that they are out of business?

Since your Kwikee RV Step isn't working with the ignition switch anymore I'd recommend checking the wiring of the switch and step as there's most likely an issue there. I attached a wiring diagram I took from the install instructions for you to compare to your RV.
