Weight Rating of Inno Roof Rack for 2013 Lexus GX 460

Question:

Is the 220 lb weight limit mentioned by your in-house expert a dynamic or static weight limit? Whichever it is, can you tell me what the alternate weight limit is as well? And lastly, any reason to believe that the in-house experts comments regarding the 2013 wouldnt apply equally to a 2011 model? Many thanks in advance for your help!

Roof racks are rated for dynamic load capacity. A static rating is not provided since it is presumed a rack on a car will be moving.

Vehicle roof weight capacities are usually common for all years that are within the same generation. The Current generation of the GX 460, the second generation, includes all models from 2009 to the present. I checked the online owner's manual for the 2013 GX 460 but no specific weight rating for the roof is indicated; your printed manual may differ and may include this figure.

The Inno racks we have for your Lexus are for the version that has a roof with flush mounted rails that run front to back. All of these roof racks, shown on the linked page, have a 140-lb weight rating when installed on your car. Inno makes the OEM roof racks for many import vehicles so I trust their 140-lb rating.

It is possible that Inno and/or Lexus changed their published data on the roof since that answer was created. I have asked that expert to revisit the specs.
