what size do i need for the side vent replacement? how do i go about measuring for the part? is it inside to inside? any help would be greatly appreciated thank you

The Camco RV Refrigerator Vent Cover # CAM42160 that you referenced is intended to fit a base that measures 26" long x 7-1/2" wide and on top of a trailer. For a side vent that would get mounted on the side of the trailer you'd want the part # CAM42161 instead.
