Question:
I found the wires intended for the connection to the Tekonsha P3, however I have 5 wires and not 4. Below is the list on the paper wrapping it had around it 1 Dk Blue - Aux 2 Red/Black - Batt 3Lt Blue/Wht - Brk SW 4 Orn-CHMSL 5 White-GND Am I able to wire this to the 4 wires that came with the P3 or did I pull down the wrong wires for something else?

The wiring harness you have located on your 2013 GMC Sierra 1500 is the correct one that will need to be used to install the Tekonsha Prodigy P3 Trailer Brake Controller part # 90195. There is just an extra wire present that will not be used. This extra wire is for a backup light illuminate feature that is already integrated into the Tekonsha Prodigy P3. The wiring connections you will need to make are as follows:
Vehicle to Brake Controller Adapter:
Red to Black
Dark Blue to Blue
Light Blue or Orange to Red
White to White
In order to make these connections I recommend using both part # DW05744-5 and part # DW05745-5 because they have a heat shrink body that will keep out dirt and moisture more so than most other options. I have also attached a video for you which shows how to make all of the above connections.
