Will the HitchMate Adjustable Hitch Step Part HE4045 Clear Tailgate of Chevy 2500 HD

Question:
How far out will the adjustable step extend? Will this length be sufficient to allow asy access when a Chevy 2500HD tail gate is down?

Expert Reply:
I went out to our warehouse, and pulled one of the HitchMate Hitch Steps, part # HE4045 off the shelf. When fully extended, the hitch step is 23-1/2 inches long, when measured rearward from the face of the hitch receiver. You should find that this hitch step will provide plenty of clearance when your tailgate is down.
