I did a bit of research and could not find any wiring color diagrams for the 2002 BMW 5 Series. We have not had the opportunity to wire a 2002 525iT yet so we have not had the opportunity to do the testing and list the wiring colors that need to be used.
Your best bet is to use a circuit tester like, like part # 3808, to install the wiring kit # C59236 that you purchased and determine the correct taillight wires to splice to the converter wiring. The information that CURT Mfg. supplies is that your vehicle has a standard 3 wire system where the white wire from the converter box should attach to a known ground point, the brown wire should attach to the the taillight circuit on your vehicle, the yellow wire should attach to the left turn signal wire, the red wire should attach to the brake light signal, the green wire should attach to the right turn signal and the larger battery wire should be ran to the positive post of the vehicle battery through the included inline fuse holder. Do not install the fuse in the fuse holder until all of the wiring is in place and completed.
