Can the HitchMate Threaded Trailer Hitch Receiver Lock be Used on the Hollywood Racks Sport Rider

Question:

Will this locking pin work with the HE18 extender? It looks like I would need a nut inside the shank for the pin to thread into, is that right? Will it work to secure my Hollywood platform bike rack? Also, it states that these locks are uniquely keyed, but is there any way to get two that are keyed the same?

I would love to help but it sounds like you are trying to use the HitchMate Threaded Trailer Hitch Receiver Lock part # HE6001 on both the Hitch Extender part # HE18 and your Hollywood Racks Sport Rider SE2 part # HR1450Z. If that is the case then we do not offer any solutions that will allow you to do this.

The first issue as you mentioned is that there would need to be a nut welded inside the hitch extender in order for the threaded hitch pin lock to work for you. The threaded hitch pin locks we offer are also bike rack specific so I cannot confirm that the HitchMate will work with the Hollywood Racks Sport Rider.

The second issue is that there is no option to have the HitchMate Threaded Trailer Hitch Receiver Lock part # HE6001 keyed alike so even if you were to weld a nut inside the hitch extender and it so happen to work with the Hollywood Racks Sport Rider, you could not receive two of them that use the same key.

Therefore, the best option we can offer you would be to use a non-threaded hitch pin lock like part # 63232 for the hitch extender and then the correct rack specific threaded hitch pin lock for your bike rack which is the Hollywood Racks Threaded Hitch Lock for 2" Hitches part # HRLHPT.
