Wall Thickness of Ultra-Fab Dirt Bike Carrier # UF48-979033
Updated 12/10/2018 | Published 12/07/2018 >
Question:
How thick is the square tube that goes into the hitch receiver? That seems to be the fail point on these types of carriers. I have seen pictures of failed 500# rated racks, and its the tube that failed. Photos showed it to be thin steel. So, how thick is that steel? Thanks,

Expert Reply:
The wall thickness of the Ultra-Fab Dirt Bike Carrier # UF48-979033 is .115” of the tube that is inserted into the receiver and there is 2 additional strips of steel that is welded inside this tube (.0135” thick) on each side which give us .250” total thickness.
The grade standard mild steel.
