Question:
How much cranking amp battery to run a 2500 winch

There is not a standard cold cranking amp rating for all 2,500 lb winches. They will each be different as they do not all draw the same amount of power, therefore the manufacturer will specify this. If you take a look in the owner's manual for the winch you have then it should give a recommend cold cranking amp rating for the battery but if not you would need to contact the manufacturer and ask them.
For reference, the Bulldog Winch Powersports Series ATV Winch part # BDW15006 has a 2,500 lb capacity and recommends using a battery with at least 650 cold cranking amps to power it.
