We have a trailer hitch that will fit your 2017 Dodge Journey SXT AWD, but the etrailer trailer hitch # e98845 will NOT fit your '17 Journey SXT models with AWD. The tech note you referenced states, "Hitch does not fit SXT models with AWD."
For a trailer hitch that does fit a 2017 Dodge Journey SXT with AWD the only confirmed fit is the Draw-Tite # 76225 which is a Class III hitch with a 2" receiver. This hitch is a complete bolt-on installation so no drilling in your Journey's frame is required.
