How to Use an Exterior Propane Tank on a Trailer with Dual Interior Propane Tanks

Question:

The description says this connects to a disposable cylinder. I don’t want to use a disposable cylinder. I want to connect my 100 pound tank that stands about 5’ tall to my trailer that currently takes a 7 pound cylinder and I want to extend the hose to reach it. There is already a regulator on the system. Do I need a second one because the tank is larger capacity? Does that mean the one installed on the RV will not handle a 100 pound tank? Also the 100 pound tank requires a male fitting while the tank in the RV requires the green female fitting shown in the photo. Another issue is that I need this set up by Monday.

I have exactly what you need to hook the exterior propane tank up to your trailer. For this, you will want the MB Sturgis Sturgi-Stay T-Fitting w/ Hose for Type 1 Valve part # 103614-MBS. The red female type 1 connector on the t-fitting will attach directly to one of the interior tanks and then the green female type 1 connector you just took off that tank will then attach to the male type 1 on the t-fitting which is directly adjacent to the red female type 1. The disposable cylinder port will remain unused and the female inverted flare on top of the t-fitting will then connect to your exterior tank via the included extension hose.

I am aware that you do not want to use a disposable cylinder. As previously stated, the disposable cylinder port will not be used on your setup and will remain capped off. You do not have to use all of the ports on the t-fitting. The regulator you have now will work with the 100 lb propane tank you are attaching to it which means an additional one is not needed. The MB Sturgis Sturgi-Stay T-Fitting w/ Hose for Type 1 Valve part # 103614-MBS has everything you need to attach your 100 lb propane tank to your RV, I promise! The red female type 1 connector on the t-fitting will attach directly to the interior tank (photo 1), the green female type 1 connector you just took off that tank (photo 2) will then attach to the male type 1 on the t-fitting which is directly adjacent to the red female type 1. The disposable cylinder port will remain unused and the female inverted flare on top of the t-fitting will then connect to your exterior tank via the included extension hose (photo 3).
