Does Prodigy P2 Brake Controller # 90885 Need to be Turned Off When Not in Use

Question:

how long does the power stay on to controller after vehicle has been turned off. It has two dots indicating power to unit?

Expert Reply:

There is not a power off feature, but after 20 or so minutes of inactivity, the P2 will go into a power saving or sleep mode, and the display will go dark. The power drain experienced during this time is miniscule and will not cause any problems whatsoever. Tekonsha recommends unplugging the unit at the rear of the controller if the vehicle will sit for more than a month or two without running. If you were to cut power to the controller it would lose all memory features you'd saved.
