Recommended Brake Controller and Parts Needed to Add 7-Way to 2000 Jeep Cherokee

You can install a 7-way in your 2000 Jeep Cherokee but there is no plug-in harness for this vehicle, you are going to need to add a number of parts.

First you need to add a 4-way, the T-One Vehicle Wiring Harness with 4-Pole Flat Trailer Connector # 118354 and I have linked a video so you can see how this installs on a '00 Jeep Cherokee.

From there you are going to need the Universal Installation Kit for Trailer Brake Controller # ETBC7, which will give you a 7- and 4-way adapter (this is the 7-way), circuit breakers and the rest of the hardware needed to install a brake controller.

Hi Kyle, Thanks for the reply. I don't have a need for a trailer brake controller at this time. Do you have a universal installation kit that includes everything except the brake controller parts?

While there is not a universal kit, if you do not need a brake controller then the only thing you will need is the Adapter 4-Pole to 7-Pole # 37185 which will give you the turn signal functions on your trailer. Otherwise your best option is the # ETBC7 and simply tying off the blue brake wire but using the remaining parts for your hot lead, ground and auxiliary.
