The old one melted?!?! So the first thing I recommend doing is figuring out why the old one melted. My guess is a short or it could have been some sort of power surge or maybe lightening but regardless you do not want it to happen again. It makes me wonder if the wiring to the old one that runs throughout the RV is still good as well.
The Jensen system # JWM60A is a great choice. I assume you want it to fit in place of the old one. The Jensen needs a holes that is 9 inches wide, 6 inches tall, and 5-1/2 inches deep. If the existing hole is too large then we will need to look at other options. If the existing hole is too small it could be enlarged.
As far as ease of installation all of the wires on the Jensen and most all new units are labeled by function. If the wiring on the old system was also labeled then you would just have to match up the functions. If the wiring on the RV is NOT labeled then it gets much trickier and I would recommend having it professionally installed.

We have the exact same issue with our 2012 Forest River Rockwood. All the black plastic parts of the radio are soft (melted). They almost have the consistency of tar that can be scraped off with a fingernail. I wouldn't believe it if I didn't see it. The issue has nothing to do with heat or an electrical problem.
