Best Battery Charger for Two Interstate SRM-24 Batteries on a Trailer

Question:

Will the 329-BLSOLARS work to charge and maintain two Interstate SRM-24 batteries on an Airstream travel trailer? Do I hook the red clip to the +terminal and the black clip to the same battery- terminal or to the second battery - terminal or to a ground?

The Battery Life Solar Battery Charger and Maintainer part 329-BLSOLAR5 is a great option for a smaller battery but won't do much at all for your two Interstate SRM-24 batteries.The most important aspect in choosing the correct battery charger is Ah (amp hours). The Battery Life Solar Battery Charger and Maintainer is rated for use on batteries between 1.2 - 20Ah (amp hours). The Interstate SRM-24 batteries you have are each rated at 84Ah each which means this battery charger will not be nearly enough for your needs. You will need a battery charger that is rated for at least 168 Ah for which the best option we have is the Redarc In-Vehicle BCDC Battery Charger part # 331-BCDC1225D because it is rated for use up to 200 Ah.

The Redarc charger will use the vehicle's alternator to charge the two trailer batteries. A solar panel setup for these batteries would be very expensive and not the best route in my opinion. I know this is a lot more than you were looking for but the batteries you have will require a good amount of power to keep them charged and maintained.
