Question:
I am installing a c16400-204 kit. I do not have a hitch yet for the rails and need to know if I can get the measurements from the inside front rail to the rear rail inside. is it possible to get accurate measurements without having the hitch.

The Curt Custom Fifth Wheel Installation Kit for Chevy/GMC - Carbide Finish # C16400-204 will give you the industry standard rail spacing to fit most 5th wheel hitches. The standard rail slots most often use are 22 inches from front rail to rear rail on center and 20-1/2 inches wide as you can see in the attached photo of the Reese M5 # RP30928. There are some models that use the 29 inches wide slots but they will still be 22 inches front to back on center.
The distance inside to inside of the closest part of the rails will be 16-3/8 inches. I recommend using the custom brackets to dictate the location and exact distances instead of measuring, but these dimensions will be very close.
