Question:
In one of your answers to running a 12 volt fuel pump off your trailer 7 pin plug. What is the purpose of running the 2 pole flat connector? If the pump cord is 12 gauge wire can I just wire it to a 7 pin trailer end?

Expert Reply:
Assuming that your fuel pump does not draw more power than what the 12V circuit on your 7-Way can handle (typically around 40 amps maximum) then you can indeed connect it directly to the 7-Way in the manner you described. Using the cut 2 pole flat wiring # HM47965 connectors between the wiring is not necessary in terms of function but it will allow you to easily disconnect the pump when it's not in use.
